Paul Day
Musical Director

Paul’s defining musical moment was at the age of 10, playing a gospel singing church mouse, complete with ears, tail, pink shirt and falsetto voice. Much to his dismay there is video evidence of this fact that comes back to haunt him every now and again.

After completing an arts degree at University College Chichester, Paul returned to London and wrote Illumination, a Christmas musical, which was performed by the choir of The Hyde Church, Colindale, his local fellowship.

From this came a commission to write a musical passion play for the millennium. Time for Jesus was written between 1998-99, whilst working and travelling in America. Paul met Revd John Cox in 1999 and soon after that the Life and Mission Choir was formed to present the musical.

In 2003 Paul got married to Maria, qualified as a teacher and finished writing Wise Man Foolish Man which had its premiere that November. Under his guidance the choir has grown and flourished.

Paul is a teacher at The Hyde School in London. He is also an elder of The Hyde Church. However the most important role in his life is being a dad to his two daughters, Natalie and Sarah. He looks forward to the day when they are old enough to join the choir!
